Tips
Tips to start blogging.
Do’s
- start blogging and reading blogs yourself first
Don’ts
- don’t correct your students posts in the comment area. If you need to correct them, use Google Docs or a wiki to do so beforehand. Remember that correcting every post does not encourage student autonomy and makes students anxious and dependent on you.
- don’t use blogs to post assignments to material the context of which only the class is aware (eg. questions about a text they have read or grammar exercises). A blog is a space for conversations open to the world and not limited to classroom jargon. Use a LMS like Moodle or Hot Potatoes to do so. Read A. Campbell’s post on this.
